2D Animation

I was very fortunate for have the opportunity to work on an animated opening for the Motion Design Department yearly "showreel" or demo reel at Ringling College of Art + Design, where I currently study motion design. I also had the chance to team up with a friend of mine to create the project. Mainly focusing on a bold and attention grabbing intro to celebrate the name of the department. The 3D project at the end that starts the actual showreel is the work of Steven Dvornik.

Adobe Illustrator and After Effects

Explored various compositions, colors, shapes, and motion tests within the style before settling on the final look. While still pushing for the idea of bold and attention grabbing.

Much of the text animation relied of a theme of "stretch and squashing" text. Achieved by converting text to shape layers and animating the shape path, which allowed us to animate between different weights of the same font.
