Gap
Styleframe Sequence
'23
This project focused on creating a sequence of 9 cohesive design frames visualizing a chosen narrative. I chose to visualize Ira Glass's "The Taste Gap" in which Ira speaks about a struggle in people's create process/journey. Specifically about how it takes time and lots of practice to eventually be able to create work that is as good as your inspirations or ambitions.
Software
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

Design Approach
I used a combination of cleaner and geometric Swiss style with paper and rougher Grunge style elements. These two style together is referred to "Swiss Grit". The transition and contrast between the rougher and cleaner styles helped reflect the theme of learning to trust the creative process, going from beginner to more experienced
Used a combination of vector shape elements and many texture layers on top to push towards an old printed paper style. I also wanted to push a sense of movement and speed in the fames, which is where Photoshop's smudge tool allowed me to create the large ink bleed smears that also reinforce the printed style.

Some unused frames that I liked and helped me dial in the texture look and push towards the final versions
